Our Mission

Mission Statement

We put great design in service of the people the market overlooks.

The craft behind the world's biggest brands rarely reaches the causes that need it most. We bring it to the nonprofits, advocates, public institutions, and companies doing the hardest work, so the people they serve get tools as good as anyone else's.

What we believe.

Design is how the mission gets done, not decoration.

If a person can't act on it, it didn't work. No matter how thorough, no matter how beautiful.

We are not our users. And neither are you.

Knowing your issue cold isn't the same as knowing what someone needs when they're the one living it. So we start by listening, to them, not to our assumptions about them.

Clarity is respect, not dumbing down.

Making something usable honors the person on the other end. It never strips the substance. It's how the substance finally reaches them.

Built for the next decade, not the next funding cycle.

We build tools that hold up and keep working long after the grant that funded them is spent.

Our purpose

Why we are here

When an unexpected illness came into our family, we spent months living inside the tools meant to help us care for someone we love: patient portals, benefits forms, scheduling systems, pages of care instructions. They were dated and neglected, none of them built for the human moments that come after a diagnosis. The moments where clearer instructions could have eased our fear, where one less redundant form could have lightened the weight, where a tool that simply worked could have felt like hope. These details matter.

We had spent our careers making products effortless for some of the largest companies in the world. Standing on the other side of the screen, we saw how rarely our industry thinks about how its work lands in the most important moments of someone's life. Æther & Stone is our answer: the same craft, aimed at the people and causes who need it when everything is on the line.

Let's talk about your work.
